5 Unexpected Benefits of Breast Enhancement
by Beauty Blogger Emmy Owens
While there is the obvious upside of getting bigger boobs, there are some other lesser-known advantages. From the practical to the life-saving, here are 5 reasons breast augmentation may be an awesome choice.
1. Less Fat Elsewhere
Have you ever wished that you could take fat from places you don’t want it, like your hips and thighs, and just put it in your boobs? That is apparently a thing. The obvious upside is that you can get the bonus of sleeker legs or a flat tummy along with making your breasts larger. In this video, Dr. Paul G. Ruff explains how this process works. It’s called fat transfer. Dr. Ruff, a Washington, D.C., surgeon, says on his website that the results aren’t as dramatic as with breast implants, but it feels super natural (because it is!), it’s permanent, and you get that slimming bonus elsewhere on your body.
2. Your Own Personal Armor
If you get conventional breast implants, they can absorb quite a bit of impact from, say, potentially lethal objects. That is exactly what happened in a Los Angeles suburb in 2009. One lucky woman survived a shooting at the dental office where she worked when a co-worker’s angry husband arrived with a semiautomatic weapon. Lydia Carranza credits her breast implant for successfully ricocheting the bullet away from her heart. And, in early 2012, a man stabbed his then-fiancée, and she survived thanks to her breast implants. An added bonus for this Florida woman is that the implant manufacturer agreed to cover the cost of replacement saline implants.
3. Your Own Personal Weapon
Not only can breast implants protect you should an angry significant other decide to go on a rampage, but you can also go on the offensive! Meet Susan Sykes, a model and reality star with a hobby of crushing things with her very large breasts. She has always been full-figured, hence her childhood name of “Busty Heart,” but she also has had several breast augmentation procedures to obtain her current look. She has appeared on numerous shows, such as America’s Got Talent, to show off her impressive and terrifying squashing skills. Her bosom was so imposing that she played Etra, a bodyguard for Sacha Baron Cohen’s character in the comedy The Dictator. Hmm, maybe this benefit isn’t so much that your breasts are a weapon as a way to crack into Hollywood.
4. Early Cancer Detection
Your breast implants could also save your life in a different way. According to Dr. Therese Bevers of the MD Anderson’s Cancer Prevention Center, breast implants could actually help patients detect cancer earlier. “Implants tend to push the natural breast tissue closer to the surface of the breast, making a lump easier to feel,” says Bevers. These women often find any changes in their breast tissue earlier than their non-augmented counterparts because they more actively check their implants for signs of damage or leaking.
5. A Better Sex Life
Numerous studies have shown that increasing the size of their breasts also brings an increase in sexual satisfaction to many women. Most patients and surgeons seem to credit the correlation to the boost in confidence patients get from breast implants. A lot of women are unhappy with how their breasts look before surgery, and those confidence issues resonate to other areas of their lives. Once that changes, women often feel sexier and happier, and a better sex life soon follows.
