Arm Lift

LipoAdvisor.com/18 Mar, 13/1964/0
Other Cosmetic Procedures

Arm Lift (or “brachioplasty”) is a surgical procedure that aims at tightening the loose or saggy skin around the arms, rendering a nicely balanced contour. The operation is usually conducted along with liposuction so as to remove excess fat, however, the latter is not required if there is not an excessive amount of fat accumulated. Also, most Arm Lift operations are performed with equipment that has been approved by the FDA.

How Does Arm Lift Work?

Arm Lift is usually carried out through incisions made on the inner or the back part of the upper arm, up to the joint with the armpit; in some cases (particularly for individuals who have shed a substantial amount of weight), and depending on the extent of the surgery and the surgeon’s preferences, the cuts may extend to the elbow, or even the chest. Subsequently, the surgeon removes the extra skin and pulls it up into the wanted position. After that, he / she sutures the skin in place using stitches that will be removed within one or two weeks after the operation while the arms are commonly wrapped with compression garments. Typically, an Arm Lift lasts from one to three hours whereas general anesthesia is primarily employed, although sometimes a local anesthetic may be all that is needed.

After the operation, the patient’s arms may need to be elevated for some days above the level of the heart. The individual can expect the gradual restoration of the normal function of his / her arms after one or two weeks.

The end result of an Arm Lift should be a sleeker appearance and a more balanced contouring of the upper arm, whereas a hardly visible scar will remain, fading away over the years – although it probably will never disappear completely.

As we previously mentioned ArmLift can perfectly combined with lipo if the patient wishes to remove fat along with skin tightening!

Benefits

As one can imagine, an Arm Lift can be truly beneficial for a person’s overall look, especially when performed along with additional surgical operations for the whole body:

  • Reduced excess fat in upper arms
  • More tightened and firmer skin in the area
  • More toned appearance
  • Boosted self confidence

Areas To Be Treated

As expected, the operation takes care of the extra fat that is located at the arms, and especially that of the underside of the upper arm, which is also known as “bat wings”.

Side Effects

In general, an Arm Lift is a safe procedure. However, being an invasive operation, it does not come totally free of the typical risks of a surgery. Therefore, a patient should expect swelling (which normally diminishes after 10-15 days), bruising and slight discomfort (which also fades after about 10 days). Other side effects of the operation may include:

  • Infection
  • Hematoma
  • A feeling of tightness in the upper arm
  • Tingling of the hands
  • Evident scarring
  • Seromas (accumulations of fluid along the incision line)

Obviously, frequent consultation with the health practitioner can help relieve pain and deal with any difficulties that may arise.

Cost

According to Realself.com, the average price tag for an Arm Lift is $8,075, which is far from being considered as negligible. Fortunately, a selection of financing options is usually available to make the expenditure more affordable.

Arm Lift Reviews

The feedback from actual users is exceptionally favorable for this particular method. The largest percentage of the persons who have had this operation performed report that they are no less than satisfied with their choice, even though there are few reviews mentioning incomplete results and considerable pain after the procedure.

Our Advice

On the whole, Arm Lift is a surgical operation which can be effectively performed on a large number of people who have substantial amounts of loose skin hanging under their arms and want to achieve a lean and well toned appearance in that particular area of their body after having unsuccessfully tried through dieting and exercising. Moreover, contemporary Arm Lift techniques are much safer than some years before while the scars left after the operation are much less evident compared to the recent past. In any case, if you do proceed to an Arm Lift, you should have it performed by a qualified plastic surgeon who can not only guarantee ample end results but also minimize potential risks and complications.
