ASDS Reports 22% Jump in Procedures during 2013
According to the ASDS (American Society for Dermatologic Surgery) stats we had a huge rise in the number of surgeries/procedures during 2013! The total number of procedures (both medical and cosmetic) was increased 22% which is obviously a really impressive number!
ASDS President, M. Goldman claims the reason for that lies on the continuously increasing trust to dermatologic surgeons: “We’re not surprised to see such a jump. From medical procedures to treat skin cancers to cosmetic procedures, patients trust dermatologic surgeons with the health, function and beauty of their skin,” he says “While we know our numbers are up significantly this year in part because our membership has grown, the survey shows patients also continue to specifically seek out dermatologic surgeons for treatments. Consumers trust the expertise of ASDS members, our unique training and our wide-ranging experience with the best techniques and latest technologies.”
It was also not a surprise that Skin Cancer Surgeries were in the top of the list of Dermatologic procedures which shapes an increasing awareness and concern on the disease (13% rise comparing to 2012). As for the cosmetic procedures the jump was equally breathtaking! The most popular procedures were Laser/Light/Energy-based procedures which show a drastic 34% rise comparing to 2012, followed by Wrinkle treatment injections (Botox, Dysport etc) which had an 20% rise and Dermal Fillers (like Juvederm, Sculptra, Radiesse etc) which showed an 8.6% percent boost!
We at LipoAdvisor.com need to underline, once again, that cosmetic procedures should be choosen in a sensible manner because exaggeration like in any other case can cause troubles!
