Hello!

Its the 9th day post op (had VASER) and i feel pretty confused.. swelling is still obvious and at the same moment i don’t think i can bear this compression garment anymore..

Any idea how much more should i wear it?

Is it ok if i remove it for a few hours?
Any tip/idea would be highly appreciated!

Hi,
Even though it can get pretty irritating wearing the compression garment full-time, it really is a very important part of the healing process. The gentle pressure helps your new contours take shape and keeps your skin smoother during healing. No matter how uncomfortable it might feel sometimes, it actually does help patients feel more at ease during recovery compared to not having the compression. It is important to follow your surgeon’s post-op preferences; however, it is definitely worth calling the practice and asking directly about his or her recommended schedule and see if you can take a break for an hour or so.
All the best,
Dr. Sayah

Hi,
After Vaser wearing your allocated garment is a must throughout the recovery process to ensure you get the best possible results. Wearing the garment will help to minimise swelling and also speed up your recovery process. I recommend that my patients who have Vaser wear their garments for 3 weeks full time and then 3 weeks part time. For the first three weeks when they wear them full time, they can remove them to shower and I would not recommend they leave them off for any longer than 3 hours.

After the first three weeks they can drop back to wearing them for 12 hours a day. It is up to them if they prefer to wear them at night or during the day. I have put a link below that has a really interesting and easy to read blog on wearing garments after Vaser or liposuction procedures. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions.
