Can Liposuction treat cellulite apart from removing fat? I’ve read about many non surgical liposuction techniques that work for both cellultie reduction and fat removal! Please shed some light!

Hi Minerva,

Thank you for the question. Yes Liposuction can absolutely treat cellulite as well as just remove fat – it all depends on the method you use.

Cellulaze is the latest Liposcution style technique that is being used to target cellulite. Using the latest technology to melt fat cells and warm up the deep layers of skin tissue causing the collagen to tighten, thus helping the skin to contract.

Performed in the same style as modern tumescent Liposuction, you will be lightly sedated and the areas to treat will be infused with numbing solution. Through tiny incision sites (that fade away to basically invisible with time) your doctor will use a specialised laser fiber to melt away the superficial fat that causes cellulite.

The treatment helps to level out bumps of fat, Treat dimples by releasing the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin and stimulate collagen to produce a smoother skin appearance.

If you had excess fat in the same area your doctor may discuss with you the need for a combination of both Liposuction for fat removal and Cellulaze to treat your cellulite. I always recommend a consultation as the doctor will be able to give you more information on the treatments and options that will suit you best and treat your individual concerns.

I hope my answer has been helpful and best of luck with your treatment.

Kindest regards,
Dr Joseph Ajaka
