lipo2While liposuction is a procedure that does permanently remove the targeted fat cells, that doesn’t mean that the results of liposuction will necessarily be permanent as well. However, there are definitely a few tricks that men and women can follow in order to ensure that their new look is as long-lasting as possible.

The Limitations of Lipo

Before we reveal a few important tips that can help us maintain the liposuction results it’s important to notice a few things. Although the results of liposuction are impressive, that doesn’t mean that lipo doesn’t have limitations as well. For one thing, although lipo is commonly associated with losing weight, it isn’t actually a weight loss solution. Instead, the best lipo results are seen in those men and women who are already in good physical and mental health, and within a few pounds of their ideal target weight.

The truth is, diet and exercise have their limitations as well. Although adopting a healthy lifestyle is the best way to shed extra pounds and get in shape, there’s just no guarantee where those pounds will be shed from, exactly. Liposuction steps in to fine-tune the body, sculpting away fatty deposits that are notoriously resistant to diet and exercise like the love handles or inner thighs. Although one or two pounds may be lost as a byproduct of lipo, weight loss is definitely not the primary goal. In fact, many states have regulations to block high-volume liposuction specifically to prevent its use for significant weight loss.

Having said that let’s discover a few important factors that help patients ensure lasting Lipo Results:

  • Setting the Stage for Success

In order to get great, long lasting results from body sculpting with liposuction, first a solid foundation is required. Knowing that liposuction isn’t going to help with weight loss, getting in better shape then becomes the first step toward ensuring beautiful body sculpting results. If you’re not close to your target weight, eating right and staying active can help get you there. Once you’re within a few pounds or so of your goal, you can start thinking about liposuction.

Creating healthy lifestyle habits does more than just help ensure your lipo results will look better. Losing weight and taking better care of yourself brings about whole-body health benefits, like lowering the risks for diabetes or heart disease that are associated with obesity. Establishing good habits before surgery is really the best thing you can do to ensure long-lasting results.

  • Working with the Process

While it’s fine to think of liposuction as an end goal, it’s important to realize that the process of body sculpting is an ongoing effort, not a static result. Even after liposuction, your body will continue to be affected by age, gravity and your lifestyle. Maintaining the good habits you’ve already established will ensure that your lipo results last for a very long time. However, going back to eating poorly and giving up your morning job will affect you the same after lipo as it did before: by gaining weight.

The way the body gains or loses weight can’t be controlled precisely. However, your body shape can be sculpted with cosmetic surgery. If you’re in otherwise good shape and just have one or two problem spots that don’t seem to want to go away, you’re the ideal candidate for lipo. And, since fat cells aren’t capable of growing back after removal, the results are permanent. Yet, lipo itself isn’t immunization against future weight gain. The real secret to lasting liposuction results isn’t even a secret at all: as long as you’re committed to a healthy lifestyle, just keep doing what you’re doing, and you should keep right on looking your best after lipo.
