Report from the annual ASAPS Meeting in Manhattan
Last week, things got heated up in Manhattan, as some of the leading plastic surgeons from all corners of the globe gathered at the Javits Center. The occasion was the 2013 ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) Meet. The main aim for the meeting was to discuss the latest happenings in this exciting field.
So, what was discussed at this meet, which had all the cosmetic elites buzzing?
Joe Gryskiewicz, Twin City Plastic Surgeon, stated that studies have confirmed that it is possible to safely make a fat transfer to the breast. He said that it might not offer the same volume to the breasts, which comes with implants, but it will certainly have a significant role to enhance their beauty.
Michael Edwards, Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon, also agreed to Joe’s point. He said that there is theoretical evidence, which proves that it can be done safely. Now, the question is that “Who can have fat grafting?”Women, not looking to have silicone gel implants, are among the candidates. According to Michael, you will be able to build beautiful breasts using fat and women are going to be happy with the result. He said that the techniques have been coming up quite well. So fat grafting can definitely help in breast reconstruction. It can also remove several complications involved with breasts implants.
Another hot topic of discussion at the meet was fat removal. Chris Godek, New Jersey Plastic Surgeon, shared his views on Hydrasolve. He said that HydraSolve works great by combining natural saline solution at low pressure and temperature levels. The product, then, liquefies only fat tissues. Once it is liquefied, there is no need to cut the fat using forceful thrusts of cannula. Thus, patient will receive quicker and attractive results.
There were also discussions on new devices, like Thermigen. It is believed that this product will help in delivering reliable outcomes for body contouring, skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. Neodyne Biosciences’ new approach on scar management was also on the table. Many believed that it could help in prevention of collagen proliferation and minimizing scar formation.
A lot of other prescription drugs, products and devices were also talked about during the ASAPS meet. Members of the society also stressed the necessity of choosing board-certified surgeons, if you were looking for a safe and desirable outcome.
