Study: Full Incision VS Mini Facelift: Which lasts longer?
A recent study brought a few interesting finding into light regarding the potential effect of ful incision facelift surgery comparing to mini facelift. The research studied the effect of full and mini facelift in monozygotic twins (four sets) and monozygotic triplets (one set). A plastic surgeon carried out a full incision facelift to the first-born twin and mini facelift to the second and postoperative photos that were taken 1 and 5 years after the treatments made it possible to exlude a few interesting evidence. The photos were evaluated by 8 plastic surgeons with overall experience of more than 100 years.
The comparison of the postoperative photos showed that the short term effect of the two surgeries seem to be non distinguisable. while the long term effect in the neck region seems to be much better in the case where full incisions were carried out.
It seems that its another case where the decision of the patients has a few plus and minus. The patient that will opt for a short scar (mini) facelift will face a much less invasive experience yet the effect of the treatment won’t last that much. If one desires a longer lasting effect probably one should opt for a full incision facelift.
Again we need to highlight that one should be tremendously responsible when opting for such procedures, one should observe whether one really needs to opt for such a procedure. The decision is always yours.
