Popular culture is saturated with vampire references, influencing everything from movies, books and clothing style. More recently, it has even made its way into the world of beauty and anti-ageing, with the aptly named “Vampire Facelift” growing rapidly in popularity.

What exactly is a Vampire Facelift?

Luckily, the vampire facelift isn’t anywhere near as scary as it may sound. It is a procedure that effectively gives you a non-surgical facelift using the natural components from your own body. The process works by injecting a solution into designated areas on the patients face, made from a combination of natural fillers and plasma taken from the patients’ blood.

The natural filler element is platelet rich plasma, which assists in rejuvenating the skin as it stimulates the growth of collagen.

Scientifically referred to as the platelet-rich fibrin matrix method, the procedure aims to smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles, without having to resort to a surgical alternative.

The effectiveness of the procedure has lead to endorsements by many big names in entertainment, despite how new it is to the beauty market. But, with growing numbers of cosmetic surgery negligence complaints, it is clear to see why people have a growing interest in a more natural approach.

How does it work?

The vampire facelift takes no longer than your average facial and can be over in as little as 30 minutes. Before the procedure commences, a clinician will need to extract a vile of your blood, using a syringe. They will then begin the process of separating the platelets from the blood, using a centrifuge to spin the blood until it splits. These platelets can then to combined with other fillers, such as Juvéderm for maximum effect. This solution is then injected back into the skin in the areas that need lifting. This may include; the forehead, lines around the mouth, cheeks or around the eyes. The recovery time for the vampire facelift is minimal, with any swelling or redness receding within a matter of hours.

So what are the benefits?

There are a number of benefits associated with the vampire facelift, which goes a long way to explaining why the procedure has become so popular. Aside from the anti-ageing benefits, the solution is created from natural components, which eliminates the risk of injecting your face with artificial materials found in some other brands of filler. As the ingredients used for the vampire facelift are natural, it also reduces the risk of your body rejecting the filler, as it is made from the patients own blood. There are no known side effects to the vampire facelift, so there is no risk when choosing to have the treatment.

If you are considering brightening up our face, a vampire facelift is not only effective, but much safer than traditional methods of anti-ageing with almost no recovery time needed. And, with celebrity names such as Kim Kardashian and Anna Friel swearing by its results, it’s a procedure that will be continuing to grow in popularity.
