The ethics of aesthetics vol. 2
Almost 1 year ago we published an article on the Ethics of Aesthetics and after a we think that now is the time for a second part on this article, especially after reading the latest stats coming from Great Britain showing that every year the number of people opting for cosmetic surgery for aesthetic reasons is increasing.
We actually feel its urgent to repeat a few things that were mentioned in that article. First of all we need to tell that actual beauty is something much different from what most of people think of. Beauty is coming from inside.. a big nose or a double chin is not something that should necessarily be fixed in order to reflect beauty. People must see that aesthetic improvement is a struggle without end. Why should anyone stop in improving one’s belly and not trying to also tighten one’s face? And if the facelift is done probably one should focus on one’s butt. Is it clear that this has no end? Every improvement brings some satisfaction and gives birth to a new need. So once you get into this groove for the wrong reasons its hard to get out.
And what should a man with low self esteem do if not improving his body/face features by means of cosmetic surgery? Probably this man should stay with the fact of not feeling fine with oneself. Because a surgery is only an escape from the insecurity that one feels. To remain with the fact of insecurity will probably reveal its deeper roots, escaping by means of surgery or other tricks just perpetuate insecurity and it makes it even stronger.. probably it may reveal that greed lies behind that insecurity, that a sense of lack of pleasure lies behind such insecurity. Staying with the fact of insecurity will probably awaken a man’s sensitivity. A man may see that its not a big nose, or a fat belly that is the issue.. its that something is wrong deeper, that man isn’t able to feel innerly secure and such man seeks security in outer support.
So before running to the nearest cosmetic surgery center probably one should have an honest look inside. And here its not implied that plastic/cosmetic surgery is useless.. on the contrary, this science does work miracles and this is why LipoAdvisor is so closely monitoring this industry!
