Can Voluma Tackle Aging?
You’ve probably heard of Juvederm Voluma (we had a reference to that right here), the new dermal filler that was recently approved by the FDA. The good news is that several Plastic Surgeons now claim that the anti-aging features of the product seem to be noticeable!
FDA approved Voluma as a filler that is able to temporarily fix cheek volume loss caused by aging (to adults over 21). How Voluma works? It consists of hyalouronic acid (which mimics human collagen so our body doesn’t recognize it as foreign) which simply enhances cheeks volume and its action lasts for a longer period comparing to other fillers! It is promoted as the first FDA approved filler to offer instant volume in cheeks area! And yes, a few side effects (which are claimed to be temporary) are reported: swelling, bumps and tenderness!
Now Dr. M. Kluska (Plastic surgeon of The Center for Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery) reports: “So, the goal is to restore volume right in here. This product is meant to be deep, right down in the deep structure of the face,” His patient, D. Hillebrand, describes her experience “I’m 44-years-old and I noticed, in the last couple of years, subtle changes and I am looking for something that gives me that fullness without walking out of the office and people saying, ‘What did you do to your face?’” and she adds “I still feel that I’m growing old gracefully. I’m sort of slowing the process a little if you will,”!
This creates a debate regarding the necessity of a facelift! Dr. Kluska claims that if we are able to restore cheeks volume by means of single injections this will delay or even abolish the need for a facelift.
