Flexees VS Compression Garment?« Back to Previous Page

Hello I am six days post op and i wonder if i could replace my Compression Garment with Flexees? Would this bring a longer recovery, or worse results?

Leona,
Although you are fully recovered by now, I wanted to leave an answer for others who may share your question. The post-op compression garment your surgeon recommends is designed specifically to aid recovery and improve results following liposuction. Clothing like Flexees may have some compressive qualities, but it is simply not up to the same high standards as a medical garment, which needs to be worn around the clock at first. It is always a good idea to follow the post-op instructions of your surgeon to the letter, so definitely check before making any of these decisions on your own. It’s possible that switching to a different level of compression might be okay with your plastic surgeon later on in the recovery process, but that’s a personal preference that will depend on your individual healing response after surgery.
All the best,
Dr. Sayah

Hi Leona,

Thank you for your question and I apologise for the delay as I know you are no longer six days post op. With any variation to your post op protocol I recommend discussing any changes with your doctor who performed your procedure. They will have advised you on their recommended length of time to wear the garment and if they have any flexibility with this and also the type of garment utilised.

I advise my patients that wearing their allocated garment is a must throughout the recovery process to ensure you get the best possible results. Wearing the specialised post lipo garment will help to minimise swelling and also speed up your recovery process.

Garments designed to wear post liposuction are specialised with the right amount of compression to create optimal healing. A Flexee does not offer the same amount of compression and wouldn’t be recommend post surgery. As I mentioned above, I would always recommended discussing any variations to your post op protocol with the doctor who performed your procedure.

Kindest regards,
Dr Joseph Ajaka
