Experts report Interest of Men over 40 for aesthetic treatments increases
The experts are quite clear. Interest of males for improving the outer appearance is getting stronger and stronger. It seems that the number of men buying skin care products, booking spa sessions is getting to a peak. But this trend is not limited only in the previously mentioned. It seems that now males from 40 to 70 are more open in cosmetic procedures.
According to the 2014 report of ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) it seems that more than 1 million men had several aesthetic treatments including Botox, fat reduction which is a 273{f4e1575822752660c3387461b06f16047197db710b64f29e8565d582c3a8cd4f} increase since 1997! Dr. E. Marmur a board certified dermatologist working in NYC reports that the 10 customers that spend the most money were all men. It also seems that men don’t care about what their wives will think (while the opposite happens with women). Men mostly care about possible side effects (which, if you ask us, is a rather more responsible attitude).
Why men turn to plastic/cosmetic surgery? There are several reasons.. a rather solid group consists of males that are competing in a competitive job market while another group includes men who are fathers of brides. Also it seems that men are attracted by non invasive options that are getting more sophisticated.
Also the aesthetic “rules”/ideals of males are quite different comparing to the females’. Treatments tend to make males look more masculine while women try to achieve a wrinkle-free look. Men are interested in jaw rejuvenation by means of fillers, so as to build out the chin or square off the jaw line. Doris Day, a NYC cosmetic dermatologist says: “That gives them a much stronger, powerful, confident look,” and adds “We can re-balance and give them back volume in a very masculine, healthy, natural and handsome way without making them look ‘done’”.
Once again we need to highlight the importance of choosing responsibly, according to our actual needs, not according to some stereotypes and beauty ideals. To read more on our view on the matter of aesthetics click here.
