Aesthetic Proffesionals Worry About ObamaCare, reports Poll

AffordableCareActA recent poll, carried out by Plastic Surgery Practice (January 2014) s,howed  almost 90% of  the Aesthetic Doctors  worry about the effects of the Patient Protetction and Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare)! ObamaCare  was established by President Obama in 2010 in order to reform the health care industry and and provide  lower health care costs for US Citizens but many of its key provisions have been recently enacted. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) claims this law puts consumers back in charge of their health care. According to HHS,  a new “Patient’s Bill of Rights” gives the American people the stability and flexibility they need to make informed choices about their health. But Doctors have a different opinion while the believe the consequences of the law can be really serious! 88% of the survey participants believe that Obamacare is going to affect their plastic surgery practice while almost 33% are seriously considering early retirement because of the specific law!

The main objections of doctors lie in the fact that the fall of reimbursement rates will be highly decreased making it difficult for doctors to pay their own bills! Besides doctors believe that non certified practicioneers will start providing their services in lower rates affecting both certified doctors and patients’ safety!  Another issue lies in the fact that the law requests physician to demonstrate a meaningful use of EMR (electronic Medical Record) system to receive medicare/medicaid payements. The thing is almost 40% of the doctors asked don’t use an EMR and an 80% of this group don’t intend to invest on that due to privacy and cost issues!

The poll was conducted with 101 participants! For more information on that you can contact PlasticSurgeryPractice.com
