Dermal Fillers and Botox« Back to Previous Page

Hello My name is Connie and i am considering the possibility of Dermal fillers for almost 1 month now! I wonder what should be my criteria in order to choose among the numerous dermal fillers (sculptra, juvederm, restylane, perlane, radiesse, evolence)? And how do they differ from Botox? Besides is the injection of dermal fillers a painful procedure? can i utilize anesthesia? Thanks in advance

Hi Connie,

Thank you for your question. Dermal fillers are manufactured by many different companies and each brand can have a few varieties of filler to treat certain areas or concerns. A dermal filler, as the name suggests,“fills” areas that need more volume or to be filled if there are hollows. If your lips are thin they can be plumped using a dermal filler, if you have lost volume under your eyes these area can be filled to create a more youthful appearance.

When you have dermal fillers it is important to always have the treatment done by a reputable injector. I only use and recommend fillers such as Juvederm that are made from hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring substance in the skin and the dermal filler can dissolved at any time. Permanent fillers do not have the option to be dissolved and thus can’t be reversed. I would never recommend permanent fillers to any of my patients. In regards to any discomfort, you are able to use numbing cream on areas where you are having dermal fillers and many fillers contain a light numbing component within the product.

I have pasted below a link to my website with more information on dermal fillers such as what areas can be treated, how long it lasts, and what to expect in a treatment.

Botox is not a filler but is used to reduce movement in the muscles of the face. Less movement helps to reduce the development of wrinkles. It can be used to make eyebrows more symmetrical, to reduce sweating and even to slim the appearance of calf muscles! I have pasted below a link to my website where there is more information on Botox, how it works, how long it lasts and what the process invloves.

I hope you enjoy having dermal fillers and have a great day.
