Craniofacial advancement surgery on baby – Another example of Plastic Surgery potential
A miraculous surgery took place in Medwin Hospital in Hyberabad India. A group of specialists including a plastic surgeon and a neurosurgeon carried out a rare craniofacial advancement surgery in a 15-month-old baby girl who suffered from a skull deformity (the skull bones were not fully fused) which affected the baby’s eyes which were protruding out of her sockets (an deformity known as craniosynostosis with a rate of one incident in 2500 births).
Hopefully the surgery went well and now the baby is recuperating at Medwin Hospital . Dr. Venkatachalam, anaesthesiologist of the hospital states: “The child is recovering well”. The doctor also said the ideal time period to carry out such procedure for the specific extent of the deformity was between 12-18 months.. if there was a delay, it could bring about serious issues like eye disoreders reduced mental functioning and growth retardation.
Another example where plastic surgery obviously works wonders, wonders that have nothing to do with the vanity of chasing beauty.
