DPSEAM, an organization to fight for safe aesthetic procedures
DPSEAM (aka Doctors for the Practice of Safe & Ethical Aesthetic Medicine) is an organization that was founded in order to forbid unethical and unsafe aesthetic procedures and this is a great step in order to make Cosmetic Industry a safer place. This organization makes it easier for patients to find the best doctors according to their needs, doctors that are willing to procide safe, ethical practices. The formation of such an organization seems crucial, considering the almost daily cases of cosmetic surgeries gone bad, due to unethical, unlicensed, poorly trained practicioners, or facilities that don’t meet very basic criteria.
Now DPSEAM receives high popularity by means of interviews of their members. Recently Dr. Charles E. Crutchfield III MD, a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and member of DPSEAM gave an interview to Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today, a talk show hosted by Dr. Barry Lycka (an Edmonton Cosmetic Dermatologist). Both doctors are very sensitive in terms of ethics and safety (regarding aesthetic procedures).
This interview was an opportunity to educate possible patients in order to choose much more responsibly regarding a cosmetic procedure. Dr. Crutchfield spoke about DPSEAM and underlined several unethical, unsafe practices that take place daily so as to raise doubt and critical analysis among possible patients. Dr. Crutchfield also shared several cases of unethical/unsafe practicing, so as to help patients when making their research regarding a cosmetic procedure.
