Smart Lipo

Liposuction Techniques

SmartLipo (from Cynosure) is probably one of the most widely advertised, best-known brands in laser liposuction that has also been awarded an FDA approval. So, if you are wondering about the SmartLipo cost and whether the procedure is worth it, read on. We will introduce you to how the process works and what reviewers have to say about it, and whether or not SmartLipo is really the “smart” decision for your next liposuction procedure.

How Does SmartLipo Work?

SmartLipo is a minimally invasive technique which has been especially designed to break down fat cells and come up with firmer skin. To perform these, it utilizes a cannula (a thin, hollow tube) like many other liposuction procedures. The tube is inserted into the skin but, instead of manually breaking up the fat cells with the cannula (which happens in Dry Liposuction), the surgeon delivers a laser beam through the skin and into the fatty layer. Actually, Smart Lipo utilizes 3 different laser beams (with different wavelengths – read below for more info):

    • The first is at 1064 nm and causes blood vessels coagulation (its absorbed by the blood vessels haemoglobin) leading to less bleeding and bruising!
    • The second is at 1320 nm and its utilized to heat the fat tissue (its absorbed by water molecules of fat cells) and the heating of fat cells collagen leads to tightening!
    • The third is at 1440nm which is highly absorbed by fat tissue and causes a photothermical effect which helps to breaking down fat cells mechanically and thermally (more info here)!!

The fat cells then are ruptured and drained away. Since the laser beam also strikes the skin layer, it stimulates the production of elastin and collagen, which can help to tighten up the skin. No general anesthesia is required, and the procedure is done using local anesthesia only.

Benefits

SmartLipo’s minimally intrusive technique (which doesn’t even require sutures) melts and eradicates the fatty tissues while promoting coagulation and leaving the skin tightened and smooth. Moreover, the hazards of this method are significantly fewer while bleeding and bruising are extremely limited. In addition, skin laxity and substantial amounts of excess skin left on the patients who choose to undergo a conventional liposuction method are practically vanished, there are no evident post-operational scars and the recovery period is shorter.

Another key advantage of Smartlipo is the incorporation of intelligent delivery systems, SmartSense and ThermaGuide. SmartSense is an accelerometer that monitors the motion of the handpiece so an even amount of energy is distributed throughout treatment. The ThermaGuide is a temperature monitoring tool that stops treatment in an area if it reaches a certain temperature. This is to prevent burns. These additional delivery systems are proprietary to Cynosure; so Smartlipo is the only laser lipolysis device with these safety mechanisms.

Areas To Be Treated

The SmartLipo method can be carried out on several parts of the body with excess fat; abdomens, hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, back, upper arms, breast and even the neck and the face can receive either a gentle or a more radical contouring with the help of this device.

Side Effects

Due to the minimal invasiveness of the whole procedure, complications and typical side effects of the ordinary surgical treatments are limited. Also, since blood vessels coagulate in response to the laser, bleeding, bruising, infection and burns from the heat and swelling at the treatment areas are minimized, while slight soreness burning sensation, slight skin discoloration or lumpiness in the treated spots may be encountered by some patients. That’s why it is important to have the operation carried out by an experienced doctor, in order to further limit these risks.

Notice: If something goes wrong you probably need a good insurance to cover the expenses for fixing health issues that may arise due to a lipo gone wrong! You can compare several health insurance packages by taking advantage several sites that offer quotes! For a good example have a look here: https://www.covad.com.au/cover/compare-health-insurance/

Smart Lipo Cost

According to Realself.com, the final expenses for a complete SmartLipo treatment raise to an average of $4,900, which, although not minor, is quite reasonable.

Smart Lipo Products

Cynosure created three different products under the SmartLipo Label: SmartLipo, SmartLipo MPX and SmartLipo Triplex! SmartLipo uses only the 1064nm laser beam while SmartLipo MPX utilizes both 1064nm and 1320nm laser beams and SmartLipo Triplex take advantage of three different laser beams (1064nm, 1320 nm and 1440nm)!

SmartLipo Reviews

The majority of the reviews are positive and the largest percentage of the patients who have undergone a SmartLipo operation state that the procedure provided them with great results and that it was minimally invasive. In terms of the poor reviews, these are generally pointed towards the surgeon and not the procedure as the problem.

Our Advice

SmartLipo is a first-rate method for performing liposuction without involving the usual dangers and complications of conventional surgery. Still, it is not a flawless tool, it may have some side effects and it does not set off any fat-burning activity. Furthermore, as implied earlier, it is important to always remember that, just as not all techniques are created equal, not all surgeons are created equal either. If a surgeon has a poor review and it is important to you to get a particular technique, look for another surgeon who offers it – there are always choices available. Finally, you should have in mind that, although SmartLipo touts its procedure as the “first and only” laser-assisted lipolysis system to provide a minimally invasive way of removing fat from the body, in reality, there are a number of brands out there, so always do your comparisons before you make your selection.
