Liposuction for men has increasingly become a popular procedure among men with the desire to get rid of unwanted fat around the pectorals, stomach, abdomen, and buttocks areas. Although men typically gain weight around the stomach and waist area, many of them are looking to get rid of a case of Gynecomastia.
The majority of men would also like to lose weight around their waist. After all, it’s a quick way to lose weight around your oversized waist to make room for a pair of jeans you haven’t worn since high school.
In my recent experience men are coming to see us for liposuction almost as often as women. Men who are close to their ideal weight but have persistent stubborn fat deposits on their abdomens, love handles or chest find that liposuction can significantly improve the way they look. The operation is very similar in men as it is in women. Liposuction is quickly becoming one of the most popular operations I perform in men.
The numbers in the U.K. say that more than 45,000 women and 4,700 men had cosmetic surgery last year. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) reports that male liposuction has seen a 28 percent increase since February 2014
In an effort to answer the question of why so many men are jumping on the liposuction bandwagon, plastic surgeons in the U.K say they believe that the improving economy has given people the confidence to spend more money on expensive plastic surgery. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why more men are having surgery, but for now, money and motivation seem to be two main factors.
As you might expect liposuction amongst men has also become a popular procedure in the U.S. as well.
One of the newest and most popular liposuction procedures in the U.S among males is called Coolsculpting. This procedure freezes the fat while protecting the surrounding tissue. Several months after the procedure, the fat cells are completely eliminated from the body. The procedure is popular among men because there aren’t needles or stitches involved. With Coolsculpting, you can literally freeze the fat away.
Over the years, various forms of liposuction have become popular among men and women, but lately, men are jumping on the bandwagon, especially in the U.K. On the other hand, American men are catching on as well, and more liposuction procedures will be performed in the years to come.
