VelaShape II (is the latest model in the Vela family of non-surgical body shaping devices offering the full body shaping solution to men and women alike, be it skin tightening, circumferential reduction, lifting, contouring or cellulite reduction.

Treatment
Following a consultation, a course of treatment is prescribed. This varies from 3 to 12 sessions depending on the patient’s own individual requirements and condition. Measurements and photographs are taken as a referral point, and the patient is weighed to ensure that no weight gain occurs during the course which may affect the outcome.
The patient now lies down and relaxes as the treatment is carried out. Depending on what treatment head is used, the patient will either feel a warm pulsing sensation, or a warm massaging sensation as the therapist moves the treatment head across the targeted area. A special lubricating and moisturising cream gel spray is applied directly to the skin throughout the treatment to ensure the VelaShape treatment heads glide easily across the body and that the area is kept comfortable.
The therapist will take the temperature of the treated area continually throughout the treatment to ensure that the correct temperature for optimal, lasting results is reached and maintained for between 5-15 minutes.
Once treatment is completed the patient is free to leave and carry on with their everyday activities. From start to finish the treatment can take between 20 minutes to 1 hour on average depending on the size and number of areas treated.
Treatments are spaced 1 week apart. Should the patient request rapid circumferential reduction, they can opt for the new 3 treatment protocol using VelaShape II that gives results in 1 month. Each treatment is spaced 2 weeks apart using this protocol, and the treatment time ranges from 45 minutes to 90 minutes for the more intense protocol.
How does it work?
The connective tissue undergoes deep heating to promote an increase in collagen depositing and localised cellular metabolism, which produces a tightening of the skin and a reduction in volume as the fat cells, damaged by the heat, die off. The massage gives immediate increase in local circulation and lymphatic drainage leaving the skin feeling softer and looking healthier.
Post Treatment
As soon as treatment is completed, the patient can resume normal everyday activities. No recovery is necessary. It is advised that any activity that may raise the core temperature, such as sauna, steam room or sunbed be avoided for 48 hours, and that plenty of water is taken in to aid the drainage and fat metabolism. The patient will feel a radiating heat and sometimes redness of the skin for a few hours post treatment, and some patients will have a slight swelling due to the oedema which will pass in an hour or two. Occasionally patients may see some bruising post treatment if they are prone to it or have very impacted cellulite.
Results
Clinical results in a recent study showed an average measured reduction of 10% in the treated area, with 97% patient satisfaction. Most patients reported no discomfort during or following treatment, with over 60% reporting an overall improvement in skin texture due to the reduction of cellulite.
