Breast Surgery Options« Back to Previous Page

Hello Dr Ajaka! I am seriously considering the idea of having a surgery in order to enhance my Breast appearance! Can you tell me what are the differences between Breast Lift, Breast Augmentation, Breast Enlargement and Breast Implants? Which is less expensive? What is the recovery period? Thanks in advance!

Hi Lisa,

Breast Augmentation/ Breast Implants/ Breast Enlargement – generally these three terms all refer to the same procedure. It is a surgical procedure and involves the use of an implant to enlarge and improve the appearance of breasts.

Breast Lift – is used when breasts are sagging usually after breast feeding or extreme weight changes. The breast is surgically lifted and depending on the individual they may or may not also require an implant.

The recovery period and cost of these two options can vary greatly. There are a number of factors that will impact on the cost such as the method of surgery, type of implant and this will flow on to your recovery.

I would recommend you have a consultation with a reputable breast surgeon in your area. The doctor will be able to discuss in detail what procedure you need and also the pricing and downtime associated with it. I always encourage patients to bring in a list of questions to their consultation as this can help them have all their questions answered. Best of luck and enjoy your consultation.
